Cunico is the largest Ferro-Nickel producer in Europe and a mid-size African copper and cobalt producer with mining and smelting facilities both in Macedonia ("Feni Industries AD") and in Kosovo ("Ferronikeli"), jointly owned and operated by BSGR and its partner IMR.
Nikanor and
Katanga Mining Ltd Merger- United Kingdom mining company Katanga Mining Ltd, owner of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s biggest underground copper mine, has merged with Nikanor Plc to create the largest copper producer in Africa and the largest cobalt producer in the world.
Koidu Holdings SA A high quality diamond producer in the Kono district near Koidu city in Sierra Leone. Their website is currently under construction.
BSG Resources Guinea Ltd is conducting a large scale of exploration programs in Guinea, focusing on three commodities:
- Iron Ore - Simandou North and South, which is considered to hold high-grade (60-68%) iron ore deposits. A detailed exploration program that includes airborne surveys and drilling program is currently underway. A feasibility study will be completed during 2008. It is anticipated that a significantly large and easy to mine deposit will be proven. The challenges remain in the creation of a transportation system, railways and deep port accesses.
- Bauxite - BSGR holds 13 permits in different locations in Guinea, which are also subjected to exploration programs. Early signs of large reserves of high quality and grade, have been identified based on preliminary work and data obtained from the Soviet era.
- Uranium - an exploration program is underway.
Baku Steel A 350,000 tonnes p.a. facility, scrap-based, to produce steel in the heart of Baku (the only industrial complex in the country).
